How to Get to Groningen from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol
Schiphol (Amsterdam Airport) is the national airport of the Netherlands. Info on the airport and flights can be found at www.schiphol.nl .
Convenient intercity trains leaving 04 and 44 past each hour provide a direct link between the airport and the city of Groningen. Ticket offices are located in the main hall of the airport, and train schedules are displayed on large yellow boards. For further information, www.ns.nl/cs/Satellite/travellers

The technical sessions will be held at the Martini Plaza Conference Center.

Please note that hotel accommodation is not included in the conference registration fee. All hotel prices include breakfast, service, VAT and city tax. We recommend that you book your accommodation with the Groningen Congress Bureau when you register with ECI for the conference.

Situated across the road from the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) at 3 minutes walking distance from the cosy and bustling city centre. Both by car and by public transportation, the hotel is very easy to reach and the parking facilities of the UMCG offer sufficient parking spaces.
The rooms are equipped, among other services, with air conditioning, toiletries, desk, hair dryer, wireless Internet and a safe. The extensive service at the hotel consists of bicycle rental, copy and fax service, and laundry service. Eden City Hotel
Trendy sleeping in the heart of the City. All rooms are furnished with a bathroom with bath/shower, hairdryer, cable television, pay TV, laptop connection for computers and Internet access. In the lounge you will find a cozy hotel bar. On the ground floor six Internet computers are available for free use by guests. The hotel has a sauna, Turkish bath, solarium, plunge bath, and massage studio. Each floor offers the possibility to take coffee and tea to your room for free. University Guest House
All 40 rooms are furnished with a shower, toilet, telephone, colour television and a spacious working area. An extensive breakfast buffet is available in the Guesthouse lounge every morning. In the evening, guests can enjoy relaxing with the daily newspapers and a cup of coffee or tea in the lounge. An internet computer is available in the lounge as well.
If you wish to book accommodation in the University Guesthouse then we recommend that you book as soon as possible as the number of rooms available are very limited.

If you need a special invitation letter to obtain a visa please complete and return the Visa Invitation Letter Form to Tressa Gaffaney (Tressa@engconfintl.org). Note that requests for visa invitation letters will only be processed for participants who have registered and submitted payment information.
Travel to Groningen
Air
Conference participants traveling by air should plan to arrive at Schiphol Airport (www.schiphol.nl) in Amsterdam. We recommend train transportation from Schiphol to Groningen. There are two intercity trains per hour that provide a direct link between the airport and Groningen. The train ride is approximately 2.5 hours. Groningen is the northern end station of the fast intercity trains that come from Rotterdam, Ultrecht or Amsterdam. Tickets may be purchased in the main hall of the airport and train schedules are conveniently displayed on large yellow boards. The train station is on the lower deck of the airport. The international route planner can be accessed at http://www.ns.nl/cs/Satellite/travellers. There is a demonstration on the use of the ticket machine. Credit cards are accepted.
Participants coming from London City Airport or Aberdeen may wish to fly directly to Groningen Airport Eelde (www.groningenairport.nl), a small regional airport about 14 km south of Groningen.
From Bremen Airport (www.airport-bremen.de/en/airport-bremen.html) - There is a direct bus to Groningen 4 times daily. (www.aiport-bremen.de/en/getting-here-service/getting-here.html)
From Rotterdam Airport: (www.rotterdam-airport.nl/en/Homepage) - Take a bus or taxi to the Rotterdam train station. The shuttle bus has 33 daily trips between the airport and the train station. The trip to Groningen is approximately 3 hours.
From Eindhoven Airport: (www.eindhovenairport.com/index.php). Bus #401 goes between the airport and the central station in approximately 25 minutes. The trip to Groningen is then approximately 3 hours.
Auto
From Paris/Brussels/Amsterdam: Direction Amsterdam/Ultrecht, A1/A27 to Almere, A6/A7 to Groningen.
From Cologne, Zurich/Vienna: Direction Duisberg/Dortmund, A3/ E35 to the German/Dutch border, A12 to Arnhem, A50 to Zwolle, A 28 to Groningen.
From Copenhagen/Berlin/Warsaw: Direction Hamberg/Hannover/Bremen, from Bremen the A28/E22 to the German/Dutch border, A7 to Groningen.
Travel within Groningen
Bus: Bus travel is very easy in Groningen. Fares are paid by using the "Strippenkaart" (containing 15 "strips") that can be purchased for €6.80 in post offices, supermarkets, kiosks, book shops, etc. To travel from the main train station to Martiniplaza, take bus #6. The bus driver will stamp off two strips. It will take approximately 15 minutes from the train station to the entrance of Martiniplaza.
Taxi: Taxis are just outside the main train station and are recognizable by their blue number plates. The taxi fare within the city borders should not exceed €15.00 - €20.00. One can also call a taxi(+31-(0)50-549-4940).
